Wittmundhafen Air Base (Fliegerhorst Wittmundhafen in Germany) is a military air base in the Northern part of Germany. It is home to the Tactical Wing 71 (JG 71 for short, Fighter Wing 71 in English) of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe). Since May 1974 the F-4F Phantom II was operated from the base. German F-4F Phantoms at the base were retired on 29 June 2013. During 2013 JG 71 transitioned to the new 20 plus Eurofighter Typhoon.JG-71 was renamed TLwG-71 (Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader or Tactical Air Wing) at some point prior to the end of 2014.

Wittmund also houses Top Aces, is a privately owned company and the exclusive adversary air provider to the Canadian and German armed forces. Founded in 2000 by a small group of highly accomplished former fighter pilots, Top Aces has the  largest worldwide footprint of privately-held operational fighter aircraft that provide advanced  adversary (Red Air), air-defense and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) training services.  It flies with three Dornier Alpha Jets and seven A-4N Skyhawks out of Germany.
